Last night was eventful, here at Angus Manor (Under New Management) and vicinity. The town of Mendota, about 15 miles up the road, and where Angus and the hoomans lived til 2008, had a tornado pass right threw it. A lot of people had damage – and about 5 hoomans were injured. Here is a picture of the tornado taken last night by a staffer of Angus Fala Worldwide (not Catman or Mama) over Mendota…

Anyway, enough about other people – let’s talk about me. We had little rain here last night, only .3 inches, you will be happy to hear, at Angus Manor (Under New Management). But all the recent rain had me thinking about our infrastructure here at Angus Manor. The staff did some checking, and our backup sump pump has failed sometime in the past 5 years, and the main sump pump, our primary, has about 5 years of service, and I estimate, a half million cycles, at least. So I have scheduled work tomorrow…and we will be replacing our existing sump pumps with two brand new ones, a Zoeller pedestal stand sump pump 1/3 HP, and a primary submersible Zoeller sump pump 1/2 HP. Here I am surveying the infrastructure that is about to be replaced…and happy to report, no frogs in the sump pump today – unlike last week, when we had to pull 4 out of the sump.
We’ll add the still functional sump pump to our backup shelf…it will join its brethren, the one replaced back in 2010, and a new spare one that I had purchased this year. Also, we have 3 utility pumps, and assorted hardware as well. Because as page 73 says, in Angus Fala’s Little Red Book, “A Dry Basement Makes a Happy Hooman Staffer.” So I want to be prepared.
So I hope you enjoyed the tour of the inner workings of Angus Fala Worldwide – a part of the tour that our regular guests do not get to see. In appreciation of the special tour, I would appreciate a handsome gratuity. Not required of course – but expected.

We saw the tornado on the tv. It was scary. We didn’t know you used to live there though.

To borrow from Indy & Lucy, Sump Paw Bump . Preparation is everything.

You are very wise to be prepared. What would your hoomans do without your advice !

You might consider relocating from Mendota, Illinois to Mendota, California to avoid the tornadoes. Then all you’d have to worry about are earthquakes and droughts.

I don’t like all this rain but I would like some water.

Catman must have been a boy scout, something about being prepared.

Best you make all these changes to your infrastructure…just in case!! All the technical details go way over my head I am afraid, but I am sure that Catman will be well prepared and knows his stuff. Scary about the Tornado and glad it missed you folk. Lt Ainsley McKenna (Captain Rank Pending), make sure you get regular “comfort breaks” (as they are referred to by South Africans).
